food trip

I feel like I’ve been neglecting this blog for quite a while now so I’m gonna do a quickie here.

So here’s another thing besides clothes and accessories that i love. And that’s eating!! Have I mentioned that before? If I haven’t, well now you know. Food is my fuel. Especially sweets. I may not have a big appetite but the idea here is small frequent feedings. LOL. Here are some of my gustatory escapades.

Japengo!

A japanese resto at Robinson’s Cybergate. Filled my tummy with the family before going to work

Ramen House!

With the whole family at the ramen house at crossroads!

Harubang

Had some yummy korean food at harubang in lahug

Cheat Day!

After looooong(take note the exaggeration) days of awaiting our salary that never came. My friends and I partied like rock stars when we finally had our hands on our moolah. We ate at Simply J’s near parklane hotel, ate some more at Mcdonald’s, and some more plus a few drinks at Captain A’s at I.T park, and drank and danced the night away at Cassanova in Mango Square.

Tsim Sha Tsui

Named after a place in Hong Kong, it is quite reminiscent of it’s namesake since it serves chinese food. Although yumcha in hk can never be quite captured but still we had our dimsum fill at the Terraces, Ayala.

Raffy’s Financing Day

My friend raffy’s natal day celebration! I just caught up with the gang after work at 10pm so what greeted me when I joined them at Starbucks were half empty cups and half eaten cakes. Of course they’ve already eaten since it was 10pm, so my consolation was kfc. Haha. Then of course we had karaoke after.

Jakoversary!

Just celebrated our anniversary as friends at Harubang with some korean food. And went to our unofficial hang-out place/coffee place at Cafe Maru which has all these quaint designs. Plus we skyped with our friend Rem who’s in NZ

The pantry!

I am such a glutton. I tell you I take the small frequent feeding regimen to heart. Haha. After the jakoversary, I met up with my family and ate(again!) at the pantry.

Subways and sweets!!

Sooooo… My quickie turned out to be a longie, so I’ll just continue next time. Ciao for now.

David Archuleta live in Manila (DALIM 3): my kind of perfect is @davidarchie ^_^

day 1 (july 16-17, 2011)

arrival and cd signing ^_^

arrived in manila after a few delays at the plane. we got hung up because the front desk person punched in the wrong seats for us so when we entered the plane there were already people in our supposed seats. there was quite a confusion but it was sorted out after a while and we got to sit on the 2nd row! lol.

arrived in fersal hotel after much asking. the driver didn’t know where it was. OTL. it was really better than i expected. clean and spacious. would want to stay there again. marla and i walked around near fersal to look for a place to eat. we ended up eating at a place that served cebu liempos and lechon. haha

met my friends at sm megamall the following day. major flailing and hugging since we didn’t see each other for a long while. got cds for the cd signing and went out to the meeting place for team airport.

left to right, top to bottom: feesh, jenna, me, pet, uriel, karissa, che, and marla/ marla and her high school friends that became converted archies. haha/ at jollibee eating before going to the airport/ ate solana and i - thank you ate! <3

took pics while the others ate and 78 people came for team airport. 6 vans arrived with david archuleta banners which ate naree and ate ditas or was it ate maecy donated money to have them made. cool huh? convoy ftw. we had manong driver play david’s cd. and we were singing them inside the van.

arrived at the airport and had to walk a few meters. fark. i was wearing heels and it was rocky. lol. took pictures with the banners and people were singing david songs. we even had a blooper moment to which instead of singing “let’s talk about love”, we sang “something about love” but like this… let’s talk about love that breaks your heart. LOL. epic blopper ftw! hahahaha

there were a lot of false alarms but when david came out, screaming people were present left and right. cars passed by and we didn’t know which one david was in but we continued screaming anyway. hahahaha. airport fun done so we went back to the vans. manong driver called i think the other driver of the other van and told him… listen to this!!! this is his(his meaning david) song. cool huh? he then asked uriel to turn the volume up. lmao. and even asked if we could leave the cd in the van. hahaha. converted fan? lol

so we arrived back at megamall for the cd signing. had lunch first since we were starving and then went down to the signing place. on the way down we saw that a LOT of people were already around the atrium which the signing was going to take place. it was so cool to watch.

megamall fun from left to right, top to bottom: karissa, marla, me and petery holding up the archuletaphilippines banner/ uriel giving karissa a piggyback ride/ with feesh and karissa for lunch/ pet studying while eating. lol

the crowd!!! just wow!! <3

we went in the enclosed area for those people who had numbers for the signing. there were 2 front acts and the show was being hosted by andi and another dj. there was a short contest relating david facts and david songs. when david came out, andi commented that if you only could be where i’m at right now you can see how smooth his skin is. to which david blushed. awww so cute.

anyway i was straining to see david. i kept backing away since people were pushing to get to the front and i know i couldn’t compete with my height and all. >.< lol. so i just stayed back and watched him from the back. i could see a teeny bit of david a midst a lot of heads and hands from there so i was satisfied. he answered a few questions which one of them was his ideal girl. he answered “what’s my ideal girl? my kind of perfect?” lol. he said he likes someone down to earth, loves food, music, dogs. ♥ he then belted out stand by me which was so PERFECT!!

the cd signing came and i was nervous as a person about to be beheaded. lol. i climbed the stairs and talked to jeff, his dad, for a while and asked if he wanted dried mangoes and he told me “i would love to” lol. people from ovation took my cd and handed it to david. so when i approached the table, my cd was already signed. i only had enough time to take off my black “music” bracelet and to hand it to him and told him “for you” to which he replied “aww thank you”.

l-r, t-b: first two pics are pics from my vantage point. near huh? LOL/ jeff archuleta, david’s dad/ then afjdkfjdjfkadf david himself! thank you bodyguards for allowing me this quick shot of him. forgive the blurriness of the pic. my hands were shaking

a larger version. hfsdjfhdjfhsjdfdh. <3 <3 <3

i went out of the cd signing place and saw some of my friends. i couldn’t contain my happiness and started crying which is like my outlet for everything. hahahaha.

after we were complete, we walked to edsa shang to get some things and was sitting down at the lobby. we were texting and laughing and talking then one of us said that a lot of celebrities already walked by us but we ignored them. lol. we were too busy talking about david. haha. we met two of our friends who were lucky enough to win an interview with david. they said he sang a song from the script. awwww.

Day 2 (july 18, 2011)

concert day!!!! it was so awesome!!! one of a kind experience. and the crowd. just WOW.

first off we checked out of fersal and went to sm megamall toting our luggage to meet up with our friends. we hung out at seattle’s best and dragged our luggage to edsa shang. we went there to meet some of our friends and was supposedly going to stay at che’s condo. our plan changed last minute and we booked a room at edsa shangrila.

last breakfast at fersal. marla had her pancakes while i had my longsilog. day is never complete without rice! hahaha

at seattle’s best holding up our “the other side of down-asian edition” and our concert tickets! <3

preparing at the room: selene, gem, marla, feesh, jenna, karissa and i

at edsa shangrila lobby while passing the time until the concert

we prepared for the concert and met up with the others at cafe bola. saw kreng for the first time in 3 yrs!!! grand GT happened at cafe bola. thank you to the staff for putting up with our noise and craziness. hahahaha

grand get together at cafe bola! saw kreng for the first time! <3 and played with some glow in the dark bracelets, which mine gave up even before the concert started. LOL

played around with the other side of down bandannas that the australian/malaysian fans gave to us

concert time approached. i detached my cam and hurriedly stuffed them in my makeup kits in case SLRs weren’t allowed inside. we went in the araneta and searched for our seats. pictures here and there were being made. lol. kreng was doing a cell cast.

crowd! you can see the “david take us to prom:” on the 2nd pic which is so cute. and kreng doing a cellcast on the 3rd pic. ^_^

front act julie ann started. she was good. people were seated and calm. julie ann was done then lights dimmed out. ferj’s brother shouted “i love u david”. then uriel and ferj’s brother did a duet of “i love u david”. fanboys ftw! hahaha. take note it was quiet so their voices really resonated. hahahahaa.

band came out and people screamed and stood up. thank God for heels. i could still see beyond people’s heads and hands. lol. we were at vip row G. good seats which turned not so good because people were standing and straining to get near the stage. pandemonium breaks whenever david is around. lol.

pics are really crappy since people were mostly jumping up and down and kept getting in the way. lol. after a few unsuccessful tries i totally gave up taking pics and enjoyed listening instead.

the left pic is like my fave shot of him from my few crappy rolls. lol. and this was a lucky shot. i love it because of the spotlight on him. on the right is david wiping off his sweat. hehe

i was still jumping up and down during the first two songs, stomping the roses and the other side of down. i don’t know why but i started crying during a little too not over you and the tears continued to fall until the very end. even during elevator my tears just wouldn’t stop. and it’s funny because elevator is a fun and bubbly song. LOL

it was so cute when he forgot the chords for the 2nd verse of a thousand miles. awwww. ♥ ♥ ♥ and during the “high” part in elevator where he asked the crowd to sing along was also epic. and during the something about love where he pointed the mic to the audience to let us sing the chorus.

then when he sang the last song and left the stage. the place was filled with chants of “we want more! we want more!”. david came out and did an encore which was amazzinnnggg. we love u david.

after the concert sporting puffy eyes and hoarse voices. lol

no words can ever justify the feelings you feel when you hear david live. he is just simply amazing. his voice is awesome! and when he sings, you feel like he’s singing for you. it’s like an out of this world experience. haha. he’s better than his own cd. i don’t know how those people who get to work with him everyday ever get used to his awesomeness. i know i won’t. haha

Day 3 (july 19, 2011)

last day! went to sleep at around 2 after a lot of chikas. woke up at around 6am. watched david news on t.v. went down to have breakfast at the heat. band came in. had pics with mark who was so nice about it. saw jeff and david. david was so cute around the buffet table. he was so engrossed with the food. typical david. so adorable. hahaha. i was like 5 steps away from him and when i was about to approach him, big burly bodyguard signaled “no”. and me being afraid of getting beaten up by burly bodyguard(lol. jk) meekly went away teary-eyed. hahaha. david so engrossed with the food was oblivious to everything. hahahaha

joyce came by the hotel. she wasn’t able to watch the concert because of class. vain girls minus shine who wasn’t able to go too because of the same reason. proxy of marla and che. haha

photo op with @marknilanjr hahaha. thanks mark

went to the book signing at greenbelt. waited in line with my luggage and all since our flight was 7.20pm and the book signing was 2-5pm. thank you to national bookstore staff for being so nice. and thank you kuya photographer for taking pics using my cam. and thanks for taking pics of us. although usually i’m looking down or elsewhere >.< hahaha.

outside powerbooks. waiting in line

the set-up

the crowd awaits him. haha

crowd pics from the official photographer of national bookstore/powerbooks

anyway crowd was patiently waiting for david to arrive, singing and bopping to david’s songs. there was a short question and answer wherein some of my friends and i got prizes. as usual when david showed up, pandemonium broke loose. we were all standing, straining to get closer to david and screaming for him. lol. anyway he had a short Q&A portion with the host then the signing started. it was crazzzyyy. hahaha. i had number 51 and was awaiting my turn. i got pushed and bumped on since i was near the entrance point. i was trying to get good shots of him but to no avail since people were always blocking me out. and tall as i am (sarcastically saying. lol) i couldn’t really get high enough. *sigh*

but my pics for the signing aren’t as crappy as the concert pics if i might say so myself. lol.so yay! haha

official pics from national bookstore

my turn was almost up. jeff, his dad, saw me and remembered me from the resto. he asked “so did it work out?” to which i replied “no”. he then motioned for larissa, who was taking the photos for the official site to take a pic of us to which i don’t know if she was able to. anyway when it was my turn i was clutching the book and another kuya burly bodyguard told me to open the book. i opened it to a blank page and when he saw it he asked there lang ba? and i told him anywhere is fine. i must have looked so dazed so he took the book from me and opened it on the right page then handed it back. lol. i approached the table. gave david my book to sign and handed him the pack of dried mangoes. i asked him to go to cebu next time to which he replied that he really tried to this time but schedule didn’t permit him. i asked for a hug and he looked at that same kuya burly bodyguard from the resto and kuya burly bodyguard answered a strict “no”. he looked at me and said sorry and shook my hand instead. *sigh* kuya burly bodyguard u ruined my dreams. LOL

another set of official pics from natio. btw lola was really lucky! she got to kiss david on the cheek and got a hug from him + picture pa! fyi that burly bodyguard on the last pic is the burly bodyguard from the resto and the signing who ruined my dreams. hahaha

anyway after the signing i said a teary goodbye to my friends and hugged people while crying at the same time. i’m crazy i know but i was gonna miss my friends and my tear glands are so shallow. lol. made some last minute stops to buy pasalubong then off to the airport and back to cebu. to which i had/have post david withdrawal depression going on. hahahahaha. can’t wait for the next dalim(david archuleta live in manila). or as david says maneeela. hahahaha ♥

ETA: Thank you larissa for the pics during the book signing

LOL david can’t take his eyes off the dried mangoes. David and food. LOL

although i had 3 pics with him and the 3rd one was the one when he was looking at me, im keeping it for my eyes only. the reason? well… i looked like a dimwit. hahahahahha. my first reaction when i saw the pic. rolled over with laughter. then.. asking myself why oh why? lol

Thanks again larissa for the pics!

Music and Lyrics

I don’t know but I’ve always been passionate about music. It’s been in my life for as long as I can remember. Music has been there with me all throughout my life. When i’m happy, sad, or mad. Aside from tears, music has been my outlet.

“Music is my soul. Without it, life is a mistake” <—- This is what I would always say. Even though my family isn’t really all that crazy about music, i get by. Haha.

Cardi and floral dress bought from a friend/Cross necklace from trappings/beanie from cebu beanie designs/nerdy glasses from wagw/ bracelets from the bead shop/blue platforms which i’m selling ^_^

Hype it on lookbook and chictopia!

I really have to go back to writing again. I haven’t written for almost a year now. It’s just that I’ve been busy with work and other stuff  >.< *sigh*

And this post reminds me so much of my piano teacher. I miss you! There can never be another one like you. You were the best teacher ne! Teacher/friend/sister all rolled into one. I miss practicing with you.

And thank you to David Archuleta because he inspired me to pursue playing. I’ve been trying to get my parents to enrol me in a piano school ever since I was little but I’ve been totally unsuccessful. So when I finally had my own salary, I enrolled myself in one but I’ve stopped since my teacher migrated to the US but I’m trying to get back to it again. Been practicing again. Getting the rust off my joints. LOL

Fully Loaded

I’m totally fully loaded with accessories already. It’s kinda making my room clutter. OTL

Here’s my nerdy glasses collection. Which I seem so partial to. However, a loaded picture first

Loaded with accessories that is! LOL. Forgive my mundanity. I seem to be a trifle bored today. Also forgive my face in these photos. I have no make-up on whatsover. Feeling lazy >.<

and the real thing

I am near sighted so I have graded glasses. I wear them when I don’t have my contacts on.

12:46 am

Accessorize!

So I went shopping the other day for accessories in this quaint store that has just about the coolest stuff ever for a fair price!

I totally forgot to bring extra money and only had with me 500 pesos. I was looking around the racks and kept going “Dang! I like this”, “And this!”. I kept picking things and soon my cart was almost full. >.<

I told myself to stop my self imposed torture so I went to the counter to pay for the stuff and stopped my eyes from looking at the other items. I fervently hoped that I wouldn’t need to let go of the stuff that I picked out. I placed my top picks on the counter first and kept looking over the register to see the total price. LOL. I told myself that it would be okay to leave the other things behind and I’ll just come back again next time. But after several items got punched in the register, I realized I just couldn’t (LOL. Confessions of a shopaholic?) so I asked my friend if she could lend me money in case the total amount of my purchase went over my budget.

I kept looking over the cashier’s shoulder and was amazed that after several items, it still did not pass my budget. It turned out they were having a sale! Yay! Lucky me! I didn’t have to give anything up AND I did not have to loan money. I was able to buy sets of bangles, earrings, a necklace, and a hairpiece.

all these + a headpiece + bangle for mom for just 417 pesos! <3

And here’s another buy which I saw from a street vendor. Bought it for just 35 pesos! <3

So when I got home, I immediately tried them all on. AT THE SAME TIME! LOL. Except for the earring because sadly I only have 2 holes in each ear. T.T

After I had my fun, I placed them on my accessory holder/organizer then I realized that I need to buy a new one

It’s quite jam-packed. Hahaha

Turbans! The creative and inexpensive way

I’ve always wanted to wear turbans ever since I saw it being worn on a fashion week. Turbans always reminded me of Romanian gypsies and I’ve always been in awe of their style i.e multicolors, gems, dream catchers, turbans, hoop earrings, skirts, boots. I think it also kind of connects with the boho look which i love so much.

This video from Honestly WTF shows us how to make a DIY turban for us to look chic without spending too much moolah. Haha

My grandfather, my hero

My fondest childhood memories mostly involves my grandfather. I was forever with him. I call him angkong (which means grandfather in hokkien) and I kept tagging along with him. I was a grandpa’s girl and forever will be.

I remember those times during my childhood that I always pestered him to take me during his early morning jogs. True to his word, my grandfather would wake me up and take me with him. I would groggily follow him around the park and he would slow down his pace so I would catch up with him.

I also had a memory of him getting out of bed and bringing me my feeding bottle. I was 3 years old at that time, I think. It took me long time to let go of my bottle. LOL. To make you understand, I slept beside my grandfather ever since I was a baby (so I was told) until during my elementary days and not with my parents. If you know my grandfather, you would never believe that he’d be the type to do that kind of thing.

Some people consider my grandpa a scary man. He has this authoritative mien and firm voice. That is not just a front but his character. But in reality, my grandfather is a sweet guy. He is not just expressive in his words and actions. He would call me and ask if I already got home whenever I come by their house for a visit. And just the other day, he called me to ask when my day off was so we could go out for dinner during his birthday. I mean it was supposed to be his day then there he was asking when I was available. My grandmother would always tell me stories that when I was still a little kid, my grandfather would go to the market (which grandma says that he never does) and buy meat. Then he would boil the meat until it was really really really tender so that I would be able to eat it. He also stopped cursing during my development years because apparently my inquisitive mind found it really educating and decided to copy him. LOL

Angkong is also very funny that I find myself clutching my tummy in agony since I cannot stop laughing. He is very smart and witty. He can converse with you from the latest news, the stock market status to the latest celebrity gossip. My grandfather really sees to it that he keeps himself well informed.

My grandfather also has this tendency to be OC/obessessive-compulsive. He keeps his desk in order and whenever someone moves his pens, he would know! I am not kidding. One time I went by their house when no one was there, watched TV then went home. He called me and asked if I came by. I was amazed that he knew so I asked him why. You know what he said? He told me because the TV channel was changed! LOL. Of all the things!

He is also sentimental. He kept the gifts I gave him when I was still little. Those were really nonsensical things and I was touched to see that he kept them. He also keeps a picture of me when I was about 7 years old on his desk.

My grandfather is my hero and I love him very much although I never get around to saying it because like him I am never good at expressing my feelings. So here I am writing this to convey my love for a very special man. So happy birthday Cresente Tiu! May you have many many more birthdays to come. I love you angkong!
